These days it seems as if a guy can’t transform his physique for the better, without being accused of taking anabolic steroids, or other potent hormones designed to improve the human physique.
Let’s make one thing very clear right from the get-go.
If you’re committed to building a better body, it is more than possible to build an impressive physique naturally, without the help of illegal steroids.
The problem is that it doesn’t happen quickly, and it can take years to build a powerful and muscular-looking physique.
Taking steroids, however, will get you quick results, and when we say quick, we’re talking weeks as opposed to months, or even years, like you would expect with natural training.
One individual that recently found himself constantly being accused of taking anabolic steroids was none other than Zac Efron.
Yes, the skinny pretty boy Zac Efron from High School Musical.
Zac has always been in good shape, after all, when you play a teenage heartthrob you have to have a decent set of ABS at the very least. Recently, however, he shared the screen with none other than The Rock.
That’s right, the 6ft 4, 250 – 265-pound former-wrestler who is one of the biggest men in Hollywood.
The movie was a reboot of Baywatch, and many people expected Zac to be absolutely dwarfed on screen.
That wasn’t the case, however.
When talking about Zac Efron steroids allegations, Baywatch is the movie that comes to mind.
Here’s a look at whether Zac may have used steroids to get in shape for Baywatch.
A legal disclaimer
Before we start talking about those Zac Efron steroids allegations, we will first talk about the boring legal mumbo-jumbo.
This article is based purely on speculation, rather than factual evidence.
We have no idea whether Zac Efron has ever used steroids, or if he will ever use steroids.
We are in no way, shape, or form, associated with him so we have no idea whether or not he is natural.
What we intend to do is look at certain pieces of evidence, both for, and against, the use of steroids on Zac’s part, in a bid to determine whether he may have used steroids or not to help him get in shape for Baywatch.
Who is Zac Efron?
Zac Efron is one of the most popular actors in Hollywood at this moment in time.
A little over a decade ago, he was one of the stars of the hit High School Musical and was considered very much the teenage heartthrob.
Young teen girls all over the globe had pictures of Zac on their walls and he became the envy of men internationally.
Back then he played your typical high school jock, and while he was in good shape, compared to any serious lifters out there, well, he looked pretty darn weedy to say the least.
As the years went by he expanded his career and started taking on more comedic and adult roles.
It turns out that Zac is actually a pretty funny dude, which he proved when he appeared in Bad Neighbors with Seth Rogen, as well as in Dirty Grandpa, with none other than Hollywood legend, Mr. Robert De Niro.
As Zac began taking on more mature and adult-orientated roles, he had to be a bit more believable as a typical guy/jock.
He began training harder in the gym and put on a little more size.
It wasn’t until he was cast in the new Baywatch reboot, however, that the Zac Efron steroids allegations really started gaining momentum.
Zac Efron’s physique
In High School Musical, Zac played a teenage jock a heartthrob, so he had to fit the mold of what teenage girls would swoon over.
Young girls generally don’t obsess over huge, muscular, and vascular bodybuilders. Instead, they want six-pack ABS and not much else, and that’s what they got with Zac.
Back in the High School Musical days, there was no question about whether or not Zac was natural, as it was as plain as day.
As the years went by, however, and as the world started to forget about High School Musical, Zac obviously took a bit more of an interest in training.
He was no longer a teenager, he was now becoming a man, grrr, and he had to look like one.
Zac started lifting weights and sorted out his diet and he made noticeable improvements.
He was no longer a skinny High School jock wannabe with ABS, he now had a physique that looked better than most.
However, it was still obvious that he was completely natural.
Then, along came Baywatch, and shortly after, along came the Zac Efron steroids allegations.
Baywatch was a movie based on the hit, ultra-cheesy TV show of the same name.
The basic premise is that a bunch of far too attractive, uber in-shape, lifeguards run around on the beach in slow motion without their tops on.
The Rock, that’s Dwayne Johnson to those of you who are unfamiliar with ‘The most electrifying man in sports entertainment’ was cast in a lead role, with Zac as his co-star.
Now, The Rock is 6ft 4 and weighs anything from 250 – 265 pounds of solid muscle.
He has always been in shape, but now, in his 40s, he looks better than he did in his 20s and 30s.
The Rock is a beast of a man and has himself been accused of using steroids in the past.
When it was revealed that Zac had been cast alongside him, bodybuilding forums and online communities expected Zac to be completely dwarfed.
However, when footage and production stills emerged online, the world was in shock.
Zac had completely transformed his physique and was not only ripped to shreds, but he looked to be a good 20 – 30 pounds heavier, and it was all muscle.
The Rock himself joked about how Zac made him look bad with his ’12 pack ABS’.
It turns out that the two would often train together.
The Rock has trained with some of the greatest coaches in the world, including George Farrah and Hany ‘The ProCreator’ Rambod, so he knows a thing or two about training.
He helped Hugh Jackman get ripped to play Logan ‘Wolverine’ and it appears that he helped Zac get in shape as well.
On screen, despite being several inches shorter, and giving up 30 – 40 pounds to The Rock, Zac more than held his own.
But did he do it alone?
Is Zac Efron On Steroids
So, let’s now address those steroid allegations and look at some pieces of evidence that could suggest steroid use on Zac’s part.
First, we have to address the fact that Zac literally transformed his body.
In Hollywood, it seems as if an actor simply has to drop a few pounds in order to be credited with transforming their bodies, but in the case of Efron, he really did transform his body.
Zac gained a good 20 or more pounds of solid muscle, and he was ripped, like seriously ripped.
This transformation wasn’t years in the making, it happened over a matter of months.
To gain 5 pounds of muscle naturally would take months, even years, yet Zac packed on dozens of pounds in around four months before he began shooting the movie.
Even with amazing genetics and the best trainers out there, surely you can’t build that much muscle that quickly?
He Trained with The Rock
Whenever you think of The Rock, you think of a big hulking wrestler who absolutely kills it in the weight room every single day.
Zac trained with The Rock during Baywatch, so he certainly will have picked up some tips, not to mention the fact that he will have been pushed to his limits.
This, however, does not suggest the use of steroids, nor does it prove that he didn’t use steroids.
We just thought it was a fun fact, so we threw it in for good measure.
He Built Muscle And Burn Fat
Now, Zac Efron has probably never been fat in his life.
In fact, he was probably born with ABS.
However, it is generally accepted that in order to build muscle, you need to be in a caloric surplus, in which you take in more calories than you can burn off.
This means that some fat gain is widely accepted.
Not with Zac, however, he built ultra-lean muscle while simultaneously burning body fat.
Even pro bodybuilders sometimes struggle to do this, so could it be that he was on powerful steroids such as Tren, that can be used for bulking and cutting?
His face definitely aged
Zac Efron is not yet 32 years of age, and in all honesty, if he was clean shaven, he’d ordinarily pass for being 10 years younger.
However, in Baywatch, his face and his appearance definitely looked older.
He looked to be pushing 40 in his appearance, which could be due to steroids.
You see, certain anabolic steroids have been found to reduce collagen in the skin, which causes the skin to lose its elasticity and plumpness.
This makes the skin more prone to lines and wrinkles, which obviously cause the skin to appear older than it is.
Rather than looking like a fresh-faced youngster not long out of college, Zac looked like a man.
His Jawline Also Changed
Another common side effect of steroid use, or rather, GH use, is a square jaw.
HGH is often stacked with steroids to help create an anabolic environment within the body.
This hormone along with fluctuations in hormones from steroid use can cause the jaw to look blockier and wider.
Zac’s jaw definitely looked blockier when he was filming Baywatch, and if you don’t believe us you can simply search the web for images and see for yourself.
More body hair
If you look for topless pics of Zac several years back, you’ll see that his body was relatively hair-free.
It was obvious that he hadn’t shaved because there was some hair there, just not very much.
In Baywatch, Zac embraced the hairy masculine look and again, didn’t shave his body.
However, he all of a sudden looked a great deal hairier than he had looked in the past.
Steroid use can cause an increase in hair growth, especially if Test-E is used as this increase in testosterone means accelerated hair growth.
Zac definitely looked hairier than he’d looked in years, so this could be down to steroid use.
No visible side-effects
One common downside associated with steroids is the fact that they cause unpleasant side-effects such as gynecomastia, acne, and hair loss.
If you look at Zac during Baywatch, you can see that his pecs look perfectly normal, with no signs of puffy nipples like you would expect with gyno.
He also has plenty of hair, more than plenty in fact, plus his skin still looks silky smooth.
This could suggest that maybe he was natural after, all, despite all of the aforementioned side-effects can be avoided if proper post cycle therapy is utilized.
So, are the Zac Efron Steroids allegations justifiable?
Based on the info listed above, as well as what else we know about steroids, Hollywood, and just common sense in general, we believe that Zac did use anabolic steroids in the run-up to Baywatch.
Again, we have no real proof of this at all, other than what we can see with our own eyes.
Zac looked great, and in a short period of time, so we believe that he used steroids to help him burn fat and build muscle.
