Who Is Chris Evans?

Chris Evans is a Hollywood actor and action superhero star that is best known for his role as “The First Avenger” Captain America.

Ironically, he has actually played another superhero in the Marvel Universe, back in 2005 and 2007, when he played the ‘Human Torch’ in the Fantastic 4 movie, and its sequel.

Chris is a megastar with a fantastic physique.

He stands at 6ft tall and weighs around 200 – 205 pounds, almost like Zac Efron body size.

If you saw him on camera, however, you’d understand why people have accused him of using anabolic steroids in the past.

Chris started his career back in 2000, where he appeared on a TV series entitled Opposite Sex.

Other movie credits to his name include things such as Not Another Teen Movie, Scott Pilgrim vs The World, Sunshine, Gifted, and many more.

He has even found himself on the other side of the camera, as back in 2014, he directed Before We Go, which he also starred in.

Recently he branched out into a stage performance, as he made his Broadway debut a few months back in 2018, in Lobby Hero.

Chris Will soon be back on our screens in yet another installment of the Avengers franchise, and that is one that fans will not want to miss.

Early Life

Chris is 37 years of age, having been born back in 1981.

Despite his relatively young age, he has been a professional actor for nearly two decades, so more than half of his life has revolved around acting.

Born in Boston, Chris had a happy upbringing.

He has very mixed genes, to say the least, as his father is half British and half German, whereas his mother is half Irish and half Italian.

He had a fairly religious upbringing, as he and his siblings were all raised as Catholic.

Though he made his big screen debut in 2000, his first credited appearance was even earlier, in 1997, where he appeared in an educational video.

Marvel

Chris has appeared in countless TV shows and movies, and it would take us forever to cover them all.

Instead, we’ll simply focus on Chris’ appearances in the world of Marvel.

Our article today is based on the question of Does Chris Evans use steroids for Captain America, but before we can get to the old man captain, we first need to cover Chris’ appearance in the Fantastic 4 movies.

Chris landed the role of the Human Torch, a superhero with pyrotechnical superpowers.

In that movie, Chris, being the heartthrob that he is, appeared shirtless quite a few times.

From looking at his physique back then, you’d know that he was no slouch in the gym and that he took his training and diet seriously.

However, six years later, when he played Captain America for the first time, audiences were amazed at his transformation.

We’ll cover that shortly.

If you are unfamiliar with the character, the superhero undergoes some general superhero process (real technical, we know) to give him his powers.

You see, the captain was initially a small and weedy kid that used to get bullied because of his size.

After undergoing the superhero wizardry, he emerges a new man.

The captain has appeared in a series of stand-alone movies, tie-in movies, and Avengers movies.

Does Chris Evans Use Steroids For Captain America

Chris has played this character since 2011, and during this time he has stayed in fantastic shape.

This has led to many people asking whether his gains have been natural, or whether they may have been the result of anabolic steroid use.

While we don’t know for certain whether Chris has, or ever will, use anabolic steroids, we can take a look at whether we think he might have used gear to get big and jacked.

Here are some pieces of evidence both for, and against, potential steroid use on Chris’ part.

Chris In Fantastic 4

Back when Chris was only a modest superhero, rather than one of the key Avengers, Chris played the Human Torch.

He had to be shirtless quite a few times in that movie, mainly for the female audience, and some males too no doubt.

When he played Johnny Storm AKA the human torch, you’ll see that he was similar in size to how he looked like Captain America.

Though similar, his body fat looked to be a little lower, and he was carrying slightly less muscle.

It is thought that he was around 185 for that movie, with a body fat of around 8%.

At 6ft tall, getting to 185 pounds naturally is very achievable, but at the same time, there are steroid users meeting those exact stats too, so that type of condition is neither proof of steroid use, nor proof of being natty.

He Is Made To Look Bigger

Okay, Chris Evans as Captain America is a big dude.

He is over 200 pounds and that weight is all muscle. Despite this, if you put him next to a bodybuilder with 20 or more pounds more muscle, Chris would look decidedly average.

To begin with, they say that the camera adds 10 pounds, which is kind of true.

Basically, because of angles, lighting, and Hollywood wizardry, if you are photographed or filmed, you do tend to look bigger and heavier than you actually are.

Chris is also made to look bigger on screen in a number of ways.

To start with, his suit is so tight that it’s a wonder his blood circulation doesn’t cut off entirely.

He is also often filmed shirtless or wearing very tight compression clothing, which automatically makes people look bigger and heavier too.

If he was wearing a baggy 3XL sweatshirt instead of an L under armor T-shirt, we’re sure his physique would have less to offer the camera.

Don’t get us wrong, he is big and jacked, but in person, he generally does not look as big as he does on screen.

He Hasn’t Undergone Any Dramatic Transformations

Okay, in Captain America, his character is CGI’d to oblivion, to begin with.

They deliberately make him look shorter and borderline anorexic, and to be honest, it is over the top and does look laughable.

Once he gets his powers, he emerges several inches tall, and many pounds heavier.

He is now big and jacked.

In the real world, however, his physique has not changed quite as dramatically.

In the Fantastic 4, he wasn’t much lighter than he is now and was only slightly lighter.

If you want to gauge whether a person is natty or juicing, often you need to simply take a look at whether or not they have undergone any dramatic changes in a short space of time.

If a person gains 10 – 15 pounds over the course of a decade nearly, they are likely natural.

If they gain 50 pounds in a matter of months, unless they were underweight, to begin with, they are probably on gear.

Chris has not undergone any dramatic transformations.

Okay, he gained muscle and kept his body fat very low for Captain America, but his physique wasn’t enormous or unrecognizable from how it looked years ago.

He has gained around 15 – 20 pounds in six years, which is impressive, but to us, it doesn’t scream steroids.

His Condition

In Captain America, Chris is fairly ripped and has low body fat.

He looks to be around 9 – 11% maybe a tad more.

He has abs and vascularity, but he looks more bulky than ripped.

He looks like a bodybuilder in the off-season, that is looking to bulk up and stay lean.

In Fantastic 4, he had more of a tan and was a little more ripped and defined.

If he was super-shredded, say at around 5% body fat, we’d think that maybe he was using some sort of steroid-based around burning fat.

To maintain that type of condition is very tough.

To maintain a physique like Chris has, however, while tough, it is certainly much easier and is more than achievable when natural, especially if you are training hard and dieting.

No Signs Of Steroid Use

Okay, so far things are looking good for the captain, and rightfully so.

Captain America is all about setting good morals and being a role model for young children all over the world, so surely he would never put steroids into his body?

While we can’t say for sure, it certainly doesn’t appear that he has.

You see, sometimes it is painfully obvious that somebody has used steroids, even if you have not a single shred of proof.

They normally are freakishly big, they may have puffy and swollen nipples, they may be covered in spots, their skin looks flushed, they sweat a lot, they lose their hair, and their deltoids and traps look ridiculously big because that is where most of the body’s androgen receptors are located.

Chris however, has NO signs of steroid use, other than being fairly jacked.

So, Does Chris Evans Use steroids For Captain America

Okay, the votes are in and our verdict is that Chris Evans is in fact – natural.

Yes, Chris is a big dude, and he has an awesome physique that most men can only dream of.

With all of that being said and done, however, it is more than achievable for a person to get to that level of conditioning naturally.

Chris has no signs of steroid use, he isn’t freakishly big, and for us, we’re going for natural all the way.

Thanos on the other hand, or should that be a gauntlet, looks to be juiced to the gills.
